FigJam is a robust online whiteboard filled with tools and features for collaboration. You can add sticky notes, insert shapes, set timers, start voting sessions, and even include stickers and emotes. FigJam also offers interactive widgets such as dice, pop-up menus, cameras, and audio recordings. Best of all, FigJam Professional is free for schools. Getting started with FigJam might feel a bit overwhelming. Unlike Jamboard, FigJam doesn’t rely on multiple pages. Instead, the whiteboard is a large, continuous canvas where you can drag, zoom, and organize content freely. To keep a FigJam whiteboard organized, you can use sections—customizable rectangles that group and separate your content. Sections can be resized, named, colored, and toggled to hide or reveal their content. A section can even serve as the thumbnail for the FigJam file. Read more about sections. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Figma, the company behind FigJam, as part of their Education Creator Program. They’ve been supporting me in designing FigJam templates that teachers can easily copy and use in their classrooms. Here are three more templates I created for classrooms: Learny Libs: Jupiter: A whole-class activity where students submit and vote on parts of speech to replace words in a nonfiction text about Jupiter.
