Want to make your Google Docs more visually appealing? You can add a striking header image that stretches across the entire width of your document. Here's how: Before you begin: Switch your Google Doc to Pageless format, as cover images are only available in this mode. Simply open the Format menu and select "Switch to Pageless format." To add your header: Click the Insert menu Select "Cover image" Choose either "Choose from stock images" or "Upload from computer"
Design tip: When creating your own header image, use dimensions of 1920 x 480 pixels—the same size used in Google Forms and Classroom. Since the image will automatically adjust to fit the document width, some cropping may occur. Add extra margin on all sides to ensure important elements remain visible. Accessibility matters: Don't forget to add alt text to your cover image by clicking the image and selecting the "Alt text" button. This ensures that the image can be described to those using screen readers. Pro tip: If your document uses tabs, you can set different cover images for each tab, making pages visually distinguished from one another.
