Instead of prompting a chatbot, you could use Magic School’s Math Story Word Problems tool. It asks you to fill in grade level, number of questions, math standard/objective/topic, and story topic. This the same same information you should give a chatbot when prompting for custom story problems. You might also ask a chatbot for the answers. Though, a word of caution, AI chatbots tend to be bad at math, so double check any answers it gives. Whether you use a chatbot or Magic School, the generated problems have the potential to draw students in with their timely story themes.
