Classy Sites: An Online Workshop with Tony Vincent
Are you interested in making a wonderful website? If so, join me for an online learning experience! I am gathering a community of educators to explore creating websites with Google Sites. We'll examine the possibilities and power of having a personalized website for your class, lesson, school, activity, or presentation.

Google Sites is part of Google Workspace, which is Google's suite of online apps. It's free for anyone to use, and many schools make it available to their students. Educators use it to create websites for classes, clubs, and activities. Students use it to create websites for projects and portfolios. Participants in Classy Sites build a website after identifying their audience and purpose. Download the Classy Sites Summer 2022 Flyer.
Classy Sites runs for five weeks. Each week I record a new video and post it in Google Classroom. You decide when you'll watch the weekly video and complete the optional assignment. The first video and assignment become available Wednesday, June 29, 2022. The workshop concludes August 2, 2022. Participants get lifetime access to the class.
Five Fantastic Topics
Each week features a topic, related tools, and an optional assignment. The weekly videos are between 40 and 60 minutes in length. The focus for Classy Sites is on educator-created websites, and what you learn can certainly be taught to students.

Is Classy Sites for you?
I've designed Classy Sites so that whether you are new to Google Sites or you use it often, you'll be able to learn new tools and techniques and apply them to your own website. I walk you through the creation of a site, with a focus on function while adding flair.
Participants should be somewhat familiar with Google Workspace (Google's apps) and willing to work through productive struggle. During the five weeks I am available to answer questions through email.
Google Classroom
The videos, links, and resources for Classy Sites will be posted in Google Classroom. After registering you will receive an email with instructions for joining the class. Please note that you must use a personal Google account to join the Google Classroom for Classy Sites. Unfortunately, Google Workspace for Education (school) accounts will display an error when joining the class.
It’s amazing how many students in your class have taken all your classes. That says something about the quality and value of what we get out of your course. We keep coming back

Optional Participation
Classmates can be active participants or silent onlookers. All assignments are optional and there are no grades. I do give feedback on every assignment that is shared in our Google Classroom. In addition, classmates are invited to leave comments on each other’s work. It turns out that lots of ideas are exchanged in the comments.
After Registering
After registering you will immediately receive an email with directions for joining the class in Google Classroom. If you have trouble joining the class please email tony@learninginhand.com.
Upon completion of Classy Sites, you’ll receive a certificate where you can input the number of hours you invested in the workshop (most likely somewhere between 8 and 16 hours). You'll also earn the Classy Sites digital badge.
Frequently Asked Questions
What equipment or software do I need?
You'll need a computer, an internet connection, and a personal Google account. The online apps used in the class are free, but they do require a Windows, Mac, or Chromebook computer.
Can I join the Google Classroom class with a school Google account?
Unfortunately, you cannot. Google Workspace for Education and Business accounts will display an error when joining the Classy Sites classroom.
Can I take this workshop for college credit?
Classy Sites is not offered for college credit. However, you will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge.
How do I pay?
After clicking the Register button, you'll be asked for details about the person enrolling in Classy Sites. After clicking Register again, you'll be prompted for credit card payment information. The credit card can be the individual's, school's, or district's card.
If your school needs to pay by purchase order or check, please email tony@learninginhand.com and we can work out the details.
Do I need a promo or discount code?
Nope. You can leave the promo or discount code field blank when registering.
Am I required to keep pace with the class?
Nope. People have different preferences when it comes to online learning. Some like to keep pace with the instructor and post their weekly assignments on schedule. Others prefer to go at their own pace, watching videos and completing assignments on their own schedule, perhaps taking months to complete the workshop. Still others might wait until after all five weekly videos have been released and binge watch all the content. All three approaches are A-OK in Classy Sites. While I think you get the most from the workshop by keeping pace with me, there’s no pressure to feel rushed. You’ll have access to the Classy Sites class in Google Classroom, the weekly videos, and all the resources for years to come (but I hope you don’t take that long to complete the workshop).
How long will I have access to the class and its resources?
Participants have lifetime access to the Classy Sites class in Google Classroom, the weekly videos, and all the links. I want everything to remain online as a resource for you.
I'm really busy during the time the workshop if offered. Will you be offering Classy Sites again?
I do plan to offer Classy Sites again in the future. Click here to sign up to be notified about my online workshops.
Can I email you a question?
For sure! Send any questions about Classy Sites to tony@learninginhand.com.
