 Classy Creations: An Online Workshop with Tony Vincent

Are you interested in making captivating instructional materials? If so, join me for an online learning experience! I’m gathering a community to explore advanced graphic design techniques and apply them to social media posts, logos, badges, printable templates, comics, and animated GIFs.

Classy Creations runs for five weeks. Each week I record a new video and post it in the Classy Creations Google Classroom. You watch the video when it’s convenient for you. You also have the option to complete the week’s assignment.

Five Terrific Topics

Each week features a topic, related tools, and an optional assignment. The weekly videos are between 35 and 60 minutes in length. The focus for Classy Creations is on teacher-created materials, and what you learn can certainly be taught to students.

Some of the things you are invited to do in Classy Creations include…

  • Learn how to edit vector images within Google Slides and Google Drawings.

  • Enhance graphics with readability gradients, pop outs, and call outs.

  • Fashion attractive titles using word art and a variety of apps.

  • Fill in templates and print them to create customized accordion books, table toppers, door hangers, fortune tellers, and dice.

  • Design a logo or badge that includes symbolism, vector images, and attractive colors.

  • Author comics within Google Slides that feature original characters and backgrounds.

  • Create animated GIFs from Google Slides and from video clips.

  • Discover how to teach and learn content through the various creations.

  • Comment on classmates’ projects and borrow from their ideas.

Is Classy Creations for You?

If you are a regular user of Google Slides and/or Google Drawings, then you have the prerequisite skills to be a Classy Creations classmate.

If you completed Classy Graphics and want to learn more, then Classy Creations is for you. Classy Graphics completion is helpful, but it is not a requirement for Classy Creations.

And, don’t worry if you have no idea what a “vector graphic” is. I’ll teach you about them in the workshop.

Optional Participation

Classmates can be active participants or quiet onlookers. All assignments are optional and there are no grades. I do give feedback on every assignment that is posted in our Google Classroom. In addition, classmates are invited to leave comments on each other’s work. It turns out that lots of ideas are exchanged in the comments.

Google Classroom

If you’re not familiar with Google Classroom, participating in Classy Creations is a great way to learn about it. If you are currently using Google Classroom, you’ll feel right at home.

Please note that you must use a personal Google account to join the Google Classroom for Classy Creations. Unfortunately, Google Workspace for Education accounts will display an error when joining the Classy Creations classroom.

After Registering

After registering you will immediately receive an email with directions for joining the class in Google Classroom. If you have trouble joining the class please email tony@learninginhand.com.

Upon completion of Classy Creations, you’ll receive a certificate where you can input the number of hours you invested in the workshop (most likely between 10 and 20 hours). You'll also earn the Classy Creations digital badge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment or software do I need?

You'll need a computer, an internet connection, and a Google account. The online apps used in the class are free, but they do require a Windows, Mac, or Chromebook computer.

Can I join the Google Classroom class with a school Google account?

Unfortunately, you cannot. Google Workspace for Education and Business accounts will display an error when joining the Classy Creations classroom.

Can I take this workshop for college credit?

Classy Creations is not offered for college credit. However, you will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge.

How do I pay?

After clicking the Register button, you'll be asked for details about the person enrolling in Classy Creations. After clicking Register again, you'll be prompted for credit card payment information. The credit card can be the individual's, school's, or district's card.

If your school needs to pay by purchase order or check, please email tony@learninginhand.com and we can work out the details.

Do I need a promo code?

Nope. You can leave the promo code field blank when registering.

Am I required to keep pace with the class?

Nope. People have different preferences when it comes to online learning. Some like to keep pace with the instructor and post their weekly assignments on schedule. Others prefer to go at their own pace, watching videos and completing assignments on their own schedule, perhaps taking months to complete the workshop. Still others might wait until after all six weekly videos have been released and binge watch all the content. All three approaches are A-OK in Classy Creations. While I think you get the most from the workshop by keeping pace with me, there’s no pressure to feel rushed. You’ll have access to the Classy Creations class in Google Classroom, the weekly videos, and all the resources for years to come (but I hope you don’t take that long to complete the workshop).

How long will I have access to the class and its resources?

You’ll have lifetime access to the Classy Creations class in Google Classroom, the weekly videos, and all the links. I want everything to remain online as a resource for you.

I'm really busy during the time the workshop if offered. Will you be offering Classy Creations again?
