Picks from the App Store, April 2009

I hosted "Picks from the App Store" on Ustream.tv on April 29, 2009. The broadcast was recorded live and you are certainly welcome to watch the archive version below or at ustream.tv/recorded/1445088.

The best part about the broadcast was the associated chatroom. Unfortunately, the chatroom was not archived with the video. During the hour-long workshop, I demonstrated and talked about a variety of apps. Here are the App Store links:

In addition, after the show I learned that you can indeed search within the iTunes Store for only free apps. After initiating a search, click Power Search and select Applications. You'll see a checkbox that says Search for free applications.

Note: Unfortunately, the recording did not pick up the audio or video from David's call--another reason to watch live.

Thanks for sharing all the education apps, Tony! One that I just found today is infact USA Free - United States Fact Book.

Also, I found a site - mailcatch.com that is a disposable email site that students could use when establishing Google accounts.

Great job on your first ustream session! I think that Dewey should become a regular.

Thanks Tony. I certainly will attend another worshop. I have been looking for your podcasts and there were no more. So I was glad to find this. Keep it up. I love knnowing what and how to use my Itouch and show off to my children and co-workers. Thanks for all the knowledge.

Thanks for a great session yesterday! I learned something new -- that if I tap and hold an image found by using Safari I can save it to my Photo folder. COOL! Needless to say I immediately headed over to the Apps store an purchased Word Warp (OMG! ADDICTIVE!) and Comic Touch. So....when is Episode 2 coming out?

Tony, Thanks for listing all the apps you showed on Wednesday. I greatly enjoyed the chat, but I never noticed Dewey. I will have to watch again. Looking forward to your next UStream workshop.

The Ustream session is getting lots of good feedback. I think we'll have to do another one soon. Perhaps I can set it up for viewers to call me on Skype and I can pipe in their audio.

Tony Great session! I am looking forward to seeing you when you come to Norfolk, Nebraska to present in June!
I really want to use these as personal learning assistants for special needs students, tons of great potential then ever before!
