December Mobile Learning News

Check out the December issue of Mobile Learning News from Western Illinois University. This issue is all about handhelds and science. You'll find information and links to probeware and software to support science instruction and inquiry. Watch for the January issue; it will be dedicated to handhelds and math. You can access the archives of Mobile Learning News, including the November issue dedicated to little old me.

Great article Tony.

Its nice to see teachers who really like what they do. That seems to be normal with teachers who post on this blog, and the teachers I met in November at the conference.

I've seen several classrooms where the teachers, putting in nicely, were not really engaged. I was in a classroom, briefly, where the teacher said she agrees to have education students observe so she can tell the student how it really is and encourage them to change career paths.

I don't get that sense from teachers in the handheld community. I don't get that sense from the teachers who really go out and try to do interesting things.

I think I have the ability to make either a very positive or a very negative reality for myself. I think there's quite a few people who don't realize that.

I think more likely than not, that teachers who pursue using handhelds for learning are outstanding educators. They're not happy with the status-quo and want to make their lessons engaging for kids. At least, that's what I have noticed through working with handheld-using educators (and those that want to be one).
