Our City Podcast

Teacher Resources

You are probably interested in having students podcast, but often don't know where to start. You want to podcast, but aren't ready to commit to producing regularly. You want an example for students to follow. You also want students to have a good reason to podcast and to have an audience. Also, you want your students to produce something they are "experts" on. Our City Podcast was designed to help you with all of this! Our City Podcast is a collection of individual podcasts by students from different cities.

To participate in the podcast, create an MP3 file and complete some "paperwork" and send it to softresetpodcast@gmail.com. I'll post your episode on a webpage and include it in the RSS feed. That means that it will be available in iTunes and automatically downloaded to all of Our City Podcast's subscribers! I think this is a great way for teachers to try out creating a podcast with students without having to worry about the technical part of posting the show. Also, this project is so exciting because we're building an archive of student voices from all over--and learning about where they live.

It will probably take a week or two to plan, record, and postproduce the show--but it will be so very rewarding!
